Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach on 24 August 1972. As a child DuVernay's Aunt Denise was a great influence on her enthusiasm for artistic expression and creative thinking. The aunt who was a night shift nurse, let her explore art and literature as well as the theater in the daylight. The aunt introduced DuVernay the 1961 film West Side Story and DuVernay fell in love with it. DuVernay saw how art was an effective way to spread the cause of activism. DuVernay was trained by her mother with a conscience for social issues, and encouraged DuVernay to exhibit her artistic talents. DuVernay was a resident of Compton throughout her childhood, but she spent every summer in the company of the extended family of her father living in Lowndes County Alabama. DuVernay's father recalled watching the historical civil rights marches through the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the neighboring town of Selma Alabama. Her summers in Alabama's Selma would inspire her later to make a film about Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay received her Saint Joseph High School diploma in Lakewood California. She went to the University of California Los Angeles to obtain degrees in English and African American Studies. When she was a student DuVernay began to consider producing for broadcast journalism. DuVernay was an intern at CBS News at the time of O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being assigned to sit at the house of a member of the jury, and then examine their junk. The duties she was required to complete left her unhappy which is why, when she decided not to pursue a career in journalism, she shifted into the industry of publicity. DuVernay got a job right out college, as a publicist in the young age of a studio. She founded The DuVernay Agency, her company for public relations in 1999. In addition to PR, the company established several lifestyle platforms including Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Her birth name is . She is famous for her roles on American Experience, (1987) A More Perfect Union and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn was in the roles of Rose on the screen in A More Perfect Union (2009) and Anna Payne, in American Experience (1987).
